Getting Punchy with MDS2

Good morning designers!
Ally challenged us to play with punches this week so I went back to a few Punch Art projects that I had created (back in the day) and recreated them with My Digital Studio 2. Here's a quick Birthday Card for a young boy, and if I do say so myself, he'd love this fun card on his special day! Print it at home and layer it on a piece of Daffodil Delight Card Stock -bam - you'r done. MDS makes card making so quick and easy!!!!

for MDS...but I'm sure some of you think I'm nuts for other reasons! LOL

I've always loved the sweet treat cups but it makes me sad to think of someone ripping this cute little owl apart for the sweet treat. So grab your hat, I've got a solution.....seal it with foil! As I'm sure you've noticed, the owl is filled with NUTS and not some "sweet treat", because in my house the candy would be GONE and the owl would never get photographed. Boo hoo!

 CASE it: 

This HYBRID cutie was created with digital punches. 

Shown in this months video! 

The outline was printed on cardstock and DSP, using the photo paper setting for the printer. Handheld punches were used to create his eyes, beak and the hole for the sweet treats! Finally, hand cut around the outline of the owl and the vest that was printed on cardstock. Super simple! 

Our next project was a digital punch art card. My inspiration came from www.mydigitalstudio.net where I saw a sweet page created by Amber Meadows using punches! 

Our last project was inspired by Erica Shaw also on the mds website. Her page was created for Fall so I tweaked the colors, added a quick ADVANCED technique 

(creating 2 color stamps, sown in the video) and it was done!

that you could make a TON of things with the scallop envelop die? The ladies yesterday were amazed at the fun things they saw with that die!

Frankenstein card and treat pouch! How cute are these? They are the exact same they just HINGE either at the top or bottom to create a POUCH or a CARD (it fits perfect in our envelopes!)

To create fold a piece of 4 1/4 x 11 piece of cardstock in half – place it on the scallop envelope die with the fold at the Top for the Card and the Bottom for the Pouch – TIP: The fold must be inside the lines of the die or you’ll just cut 2 envelopes (let me know if that is not making sense).

EYES: 1 1/4 circle punch for the White and Wasabi  3/4 circle for the black

NOSE: half of the Round Tab punch – put on with pop dots

NECK SPIKES: were create with the TALL heart in the 3 heart punch

(If you like this idea you’ll love Punch Art class- last Thursday of the month 7PM or Last Friday of the month at 10AM)

HAIR: was run through the Big Shot at the same time as the Wasabi so that it cuts the top the same! It cuts 3 layers perfectly!!!

Use a small cello bag for the treat and staple shut – Frankenstein should have a staple in his head – right?!

Punch Art in My Digital Studio???

Holy Cow!  I made this entire punch art turkey with ----YEP--- My Digital Studio. I just jumped up and down like a two year old and my kids were laughing hysterically! I had to add the pink feathers because my kids told me too. LOL

What do you think? I want to know!

I had to try punch art to see if it would work…and I am so happy that it worked perfect. If you want to learn I am teaching class Starting Nov 14th at 5:00…we’ll start with the basics but learn new things each month.

Punch Art Pages

You have been asking and I am thrilled to let you know I got ton’s of ideas at convention so I am ready to hold my first monthly…..

Punch Art Class:

What: At each class we will make 4 or 5 punch art pages. Each page will have a finished example PLUS it will show each of the pieces needed to create these cute critters (see sample below).

When:  The last Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM OR the last Friday of the month at 10:00 AM for at least 3 months.

August 27th 7:00 PM  or  August 28th 10:00 AM

Sept 24th 7:00 PM or Sept 25th 10:00 AM

October 29th 7:00 PM or October 30th 10:00 AM

Class Fee: is the cost of ANY large punch you would like to add to your punch collection. It wouldn’t make sense for me to show you how to make them if you don’t have the tools to duplicate them!

RSVP: By the day before. And I will reply with a list of punches we will be using at that class. Please, bring any LABLED punches that you have, from the list, to help the class move faster!!! If you don’t have any, that’s ok.…you will before long :)

* I know this one is easy but it’s cute and I didn’t want to show you ones we would be making. So, go ahead and try this one at home!!!
